Frequently Asked Questions

What is EALS?

The Emerging Arts Leaders Symposium is a day-long event held each spring at American University, giving students and young professionals who work in the arts an opportunity to engage in dynamic discussion with peers and experienced leaders in the field about the issues, unique or universal, that affect arts organizations.

When is EALS?

EALS typically takes place on the Sunday before Americans for the Arts' Arts Advocacy Day. This year, due to COVID-19, EALS took place online March-April 2020.

Who is EALS for?

EALS attracts a wide variety of participants, and anyone is welcome to attend. Many are graduate students in arts management, arts administration, or museum studies programs. Arts professionals, both new to the field and seasoned professionals, also attend. We also welcome undergraduate students and anyone who interested in learning more about arts administration or has an interest in any of our speakers.

Who organizes EALS?

EALS is planned, organized, and executed by a committee of graduate students in the Arts Management Program at American University. If you are interested in joining the committee or helping in any way, email us at auartsymposium@american.edu.

Does EALS have other events during the year?

EALS does have other events during the year, including our Fall Fundraiser. Stay tuned for updates in the upcoming months on our website, Facebook, Twitter and blog!

I have a great idea for a speaker/panel/workshop. Who do I tell?

The EALS Committee LOVES to hear from our community about who and what they want to see at the symposium. You can send us an email at auartsymposium@american.edu, connect with us on Facebook, or send us a Tweet. We see EALS as an open conversation among arts managers, so we encourage you to reach out and let us know what's on your mind!

How can I get in contact with EALS?

You can email us at auartsymposium@american.edu.

Can I make a donation to support EALS?

If you are interested in donating to our Fall Fundraiser silent auction or potentially making an in-kind donation, please contact us at auartsymposium@american.edu.
